Your best bet for getting information on your lines of interest or a
transcript or copy of a biography, census, cemetery listing, or other
record for Knox County is to submit a query to the RootsWeb
Knox County Message Board.
A copy of your request will automatically go to the Knox County Email List where it will
be seen by all of the subscribers to the list. Many list
subscribers frequently offer to help those who submit
requests.
Posting to the Message Board also has the advantage of creating a permanent
record of your query so that it can be seen by future Knox County
researchers who may be pursuing your same surname lines. (Please
Note: By default, those replying to your message copy that goes to the
Knox County Email List will reply to the List rather than to the Message
Board or to you, and you will hear nothing unless you are a subscriber to the email list. You
should at least temporarily subscribe to the Knox County
Email List to be sure you receive all responses to your
query.)
Or, you can contact the Knox County Genealogical Society with a Research
Request. They will transcribe or copy records for a small
fee.
Or, you can contact the Galesburg
Public Library at (309) 343-6118. They will make often make
copies of specific records for a small fee.
Or, you can check our Lookups page to see if anyone has volunteered to do lookups on the
material you are specifically interested in.
