KCGS Research Policy

A fee of $6.00 per hour for members, $12.50 per hour for non-members, will be charged for research. Society volunteers will research the Society's own publications, which include:

Indexed Genealogical Quarterlies
Gravestone Inscriptions
Histories of 1878, 1886, 1899, and 1912
Atlases of 1861 and 1870
Censuses of 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1900
Tax Lists of 1855, 1865, 1875, 1885, and 1890
Naturalization Records
Index of Death Records 1878-1910
Index of Marriages 1832-1904
Index of Estates 1832-1900

If the exact death date is given, microfilm of available newspapers at the Galesburg Public Library will be researched for an Obituary.

A minimum of one-hour fee and a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) must accompany each request. Additional charges are $1.00 per page for copies of printed material and $1.00 per page for newspaper microfilm copies.

Please state your requests as briefly as possible, with time periods and general locations, if known. We will appreciate your patience, as time is limited for this voluntary activity.

A list of professional researchers will be provided, upon request and a SASE, for further search in the Galesburg Public Library and the Knox County Courthouse.
